How We Use Generative AI

In our app, generative AI plays a crucial role in helping you explore health and well-being issues and identify actions based on your employer's resources. Here's how:

  • Explore: The AI is specifically instructed to consider your responses and ask you questions that help you reflect on your health and well-being. It then analyses the entire conversation and generates scores across different health topics; justifications for the scores; a summary of the chat; and a list of identified health issues.
  • Act: Based on health issues identified earlier, the AI analyses all of your employer's health and well-being resources in order to provide tailored advice and actions.

Potential Risks

While generative AI offers many benefits, it's important to be aware of potential risks and exercise caution:

  • Incorrect Information: AI models can sometimes generate information that is incorrect or nonsensical. We encourage you to consider the information carefully and reach out if you notice any inaccuracies.
  • Biases: AI models can reflect biases present in their training data. We strive to minimise these biases but please let us know if you encounter any biased outputs.
  • Not a Substitute for Professional Advice: The era app is designed to provide general support and guidance. It is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological advice. Always consult a qualified professional for specific health concerns.

Data Privacy and Security

  • Your Privacy: We prioritise your privacy. All interactions with the AI are confidential, and we implement robust security measures to protect your data.
  • Data Usage: We only use your data to enhance your experience within the app and do not share it with third parties without your consent.
  • Hosted at the University of Edinburgh: Our large language model is hosted at the University of Edinburgh, ensuring a secure and reliable environment. We do not use any user data for training our models.
